It was almost an honor to be old enough to be allowed to go up to the cliff house by himself. It was his last year as a camper, sure, but most of the counclers treated him like one of their own...Probably because they'd all been his friends for many years. Now, he was alone, surrounded by the silence of the old side of camp. The wind creeped up along the back of his neck. The sun made it's way below the bay, it's light poured across the water. The reflection shimmered in the sunset. Chris couldn't help but think of Noelle. He'd never understand why she was always on his mind. Sure, they were best friends, but he had other girl friends and he didn't think of them nearly as much. She was just so beautiful...He wanted to tell her the strange feelings he had, but he was freaked she'd take it the wrong way. He couldn't look at her that way...could he?

Wiping her eyes with the back of her hand, Noelle exited the cabin and just started walking. She had been crying again, something she had been doing alot of, lately, ever since the whole thing with Jadon. She hated it, too. She hadn't cried for ten years until he dumped her. And she would just start walking if she was sad, it seemed to help.
Running her hand through her hair, she made her way to the Cliff House. She saw a familiar figure, and walked towards him. "Hey." She said, hoping it wasn't too obvious that she had been crying like a baby.

Chris jumped when he heard Noelle's voice. He was almost positive it was in his head until he turned to see her standing right in front of him. Her eyes were puffy and pink, she had obviously been crying. Chris raised himself off the bench and made his way to Noelle. "Hey. Are you okay?" Now that he was closer, it was a fact she'd been crying. "Are you still upset about Jadon?" Chris asked, biting his lip. He was praying it was a no, but what else would she be crying about? There was nothing sad at camp, except of course, their break up.

Noelle shook her head quickly. "I'm fine." She lied, rubbing her eyes with her hands. She was extremely tired; not able to sleep that well ever since she got here to camp. She looked up at him. "Why does everyone just expect it's all about Jadon?" She retorted, exhaling sharply. It was half that, half her mom, half everything else that sucked about her home life. "Sorry. It's just that... Everyone just assumes I'm crying because of him."

Chris was a little shocked by her answer and a little offended. After all these years, Noelle probably never really considered him special. "I-I'm sorry! You haven't been telling me what's going on in your life. I feel like I haven't talked to you in months. Noelle, you can talk to me," Chris slipped his fingers into hers.
His lips spread into a wide, comforting grin. He clutched her hand like a fragile item, he couldn't keep his eyes off of her. "You're beautiful, amazing, sweet, everything that makes a person great. Don't cry anymore," Chris stared at her, trying to read Noelle. She was always so hard to read, which is what Chris liked about her. They could sit together for hours without saying one word. "You don't deserve to be upset...Ever."

Noelle bit her lip and looked up at him, trying not to cry. "Aw..." She murmered, stepping forward and leaning against him, her head against his left shoulder, her arms loosely around him as she started crying again. Her life was going so downhill lately, and she needed comfort from someone, and Jadon obviously wasn't going to give it to her. Apparently his idea of comfort is throwing a ball at her head and then saying it was just a joke. How lovely.

Chris wrapped his arms around Noelle's waist and let his head rest on the top of hers. He breathed in the smell of her hair, closing his eyes as he did so. Her scent was heaven to his nose. "Don't cry, you'll be okay," he muttered, holding her tighter. Her chest was heaving against his. What was he supposed to do? Here was one of his best friends crying hysterically and he had ABSOLUTELY no idea what to do. "I promise, you'll find happiness soon."

Noelle pulled away a little bit to look at him. Then she leaned forward and kissed him. She pulled back and looked at him for his reaction. Her eyes were wide that she actually did that, but she didn't regret it or anything. She bit her lip, trying to study and decode his expression.

Noelle kissed him... She kissed Chris...
What was he supposed to do? He stood there, his mouth dangling open. Was it going to be awkward now that she kissed him? No, there was somthing strange about the kiss. He didn't mind it, no he actually liked it. Could it be that Chris actually liked Noelle?
"Okay," was all he said and wrapped his arms around Noelle's shoulders and pressed his lips softly against hers. He massaged her bottom lips gently, his fingers scanned up her neck. When he pulled away, he couldn't help the huge grin that spread across his face.
There was something strange but miraculous about that kiss.

Noelle kissed him back, her teeth gently tugging at his lower lip as they did this. She hooked her arms around his neck, and bent her head to kiss his neck. She ran a hand through his hair slowly as they kissed. When they broke apart, she looked at him. "So... now what?" She asked. Meaning, where they going out now? Or what?

"What do you mean 'now what?'," Chris was a little confused by this response. Did she expect him to ask her out? She know that he's never had a girlfriend. After one kiss, did she really expect him to settle down into a relationship that could cause unnecessary chaos in his life.
Chris bit his lip, not really sure what to say to her. "Listen, I don't want to be your rebound and honestly, Noelle, it was just a kiss. You know it was. I don't want to ruin our friendship, what if something really bad happens? What will happen to us? I...I don't think we should risk it."

Noelle bit her lip, and her gaze shifted away from him as she nodded. She felt like a complete idiot, now. "I just remembered... I promised Harper I'd help her... Unpack." She said, forcing a smile and turning. Stuffing her hands in the pockets of her sweatshirt, she walked down the dirt path away from the cliff house. How could she have been so stupid?

Chris watched as the thin shadow walked down the dirt path until Noelle disappeared into the thick trees. The urge to run after her erupted in his brain, but he quickly ignored it. He turned away from where he'd watched Noelle disappear and walked back to the white bench he was sitting on before. He pulled his hood over his head and buried his face into the palms of his hands.
It was pitch black, Chris was alone. It would've been a perfect moment for Chris, but there was something haunting him. Chris clutched his brown locks in his fingers and leaned back into the bench. Noelle's scent...It was on his hoodie.
